Hi Friends.

Do you remember this video?

It was a full-circle moment to watch my student mentors lead their debate teams at this Debate Event and observe my primary and junior students speak more boldly and eloquently than the year before. Those same students are forging ahead to advance to the next level of primary and secondary school.

My student mentors are officially young adults. They have completed high school and are eagerly waiting to attend university. However, like many students and families, university costs are a barrier to continued academic achievement. I’ve decided to create a GoFundMe to raise funds to send the 5 student mentors to university.

Will you help me send these students to university? I’m asking each of you to share the fundraiser link on socials, organize fundraising events within your social networks, and repost updates and content I share about this fundraiser. This will be a yearly commitment. Will you join me?

This is not a new ambition. I wanted to start a book award fund to assist students with the cost of books while attending university. But I failed to place energy into that dream. Now, after spending less than three months in Tanzania and spending time with the co-founders of the organization I work for, I have a new energy and feel inspired to launch an initiative to raise funds for 5 deserving students.

Twenty years ago, our co-founders dreamed of providing housing to children living on the streets with no family. After two decades of commitment to children and the surrounding village, the organization has become a community development agency, supporting 10,000 individuals with free healthcare, interest-free loans, and three public-private partnerships with public schools to bolster academic performance. It was a simple dream, backed by big passion. Their courage to start has encouraged me to reach into my social networks to ask for your participation—partner with me to make 5 dreams come true.

With gratitude,

Jess
